Turquoise Birds on Amate (Bark) Paper
This bark painting showcases a tall central bird whose delicate turquoise tailfeathers cascade down the painting. The colors are exquisite in the other two birds as well
Bark paintings are created using papel amate or paper made from bark. The colorful subject matter are birds and animals or festive scenes from Mexican life such as weddings, farming, festivals and nature. This painting is done by Nahua Indian artists Agustin Vargas and Agustina Martinez in the Mexican state of Guerrero. The detail and color combinations are lovely. These bark paintings are easily framed with a complimentary mat.
We pride ourselves on nurturing a relationship with the artist and providing steady income from our purchases. See our ‘Fair Trade’ page for more information on our policies.
