This pot is handcrafted by a member of the Tarahumara indigenous group in northern Mexico. It has a glossy dark patina. A goatskin sling is formed around the pot that protects it. It is 4.5 inches both in diameter and height.

Tarahumara artists are very accomplished in pottery, basketry, musical instruments, weaving, embroidery and woodworking. They live high in the mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental and are famous for their physical condition and endurance from running up and down the steep canyons where they live.
