Huichol Indian Beaded Cross

This beautiful cross is created using shades of green and gold accent beads. The tiny chaquira, or seed beads, are applied by coating the surface of the carving with a special beeswax mixture. As the beads are applied one by one, the vision of the artist comes to life. The beading is perfect, with every bead in place.  This can easily be seen by clicking on each image where it will expand, showing the incredible detail of this art.
The sacred symbol used in this piece is the peyote which denotes success in life. Just as crosses occur everywhere in Mexican life, the Huichol have encorporated it into their culture. This cross has no fewer than seven peyote flowers in green. The dimensions are 5.25 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide and .75 inches deep. The beads are applied to a dark wood wood carving.  There is a hole in the back for hanging.
This cross will hang with a vibrance wherever it is located. Our customers always say how special these crosses are.
Because the smaller size 14 beads are used instead of the larger size 11, the level of skill and artistry required is very high. The quality of the carving and beading will amaze you!
